Monad is a live Layer 1 blockchain with EVM bytecode and Ethereum RPC compatibility. That allows many familiar wallets, Solidity applications and developer libraries to integrate with it, but Monad is not an Ethereum Layer 2. It has its own mainnet, chain state, contracts and native MON asset.

- Trading tools and bots should identify the Monad markets and transaction flow they support.
- Onchain analytics need Monad-specific indexing rather than Ethereum data alone.
- Portfolio trackers should state which Monad tokens and protocols are covered.
- Bridges must specify the source, destination and supported routes.
EVM compatibility does not merge networks
The same hexadecimal address can appear on Monad and Ethereum, but balances and contracts remain separate. MON on Monad pays standard gas. Before signing or bridging, confirm mainnet, contract address, token route and spending allowance. Tools created during the earlier testnet period should also be checked for explicit mainnet support.
