Market analytics tools organize price, volume, liquidity, supply, valuation, and trend data from exchanges and onchain venues. Their numbers can differ without either interface being broken because providers choose different markets, quote currencies, time windows, and filtering rules. The right tool makes its methodology and limitations understandable.
Read metrics with their methodology
- • Price: Identify the venues, quote currency, and outlier rules.
- • Supply: Distinguish circulating supply from maximum or diluted supply.
- • Liquidity: Use market depth and spreads alongside volume and valuation.
Know what each metric measures
Market capitalization typically multiplies price by circulating supply; fully diluted valuation uses a broader supply figure. Neither measures cash available to exit a position. Reported volume may contain wash trading or duplicated aggregation, while liquidity estimates depend on venue and market depth. Inspect definitions before comparing rankings.
Verify identity and data provenance
Symbols and names are not unique. For onchain assets, confirm the contract or mint address and supported network. Review which exchanges and pools feed the price, how outliers and stale markets are handled, how often supply changes, and whether historical series can be revised. Cross-check important figures against primary market or blockchain data.
Match features to research needs
Useful criteria include asset and chain coverage, screeners, custom formulas, alerts, watchlists, exports, API limits, historical depth, mobile support, and pricing. A dashboard can reveal patterns but does not explain causation or guarantee future movement. Treat rankings and signals as starting points for research.
