Trezor combines a physical signing device with Trezor Suite. According to Trezor, the device generates and retains the private keys; Suite supplies the account, balance and activity interface. The device screen is where the user checks a receiving address or the destination and amount of a transaction before approval.
Device and Suite roles
The current Safe line is not uniform. Safe 3 uses buttons and USB-C, Safe 5 adds a touchscreen, and Safe 7 adds Bluetooth and full iOS operation. Model T and Model One remain supported for selected assets. Suite can create a new wallet or restore a compatible backup, install device firmware, activate network accounts and prepare transactions for the device to sign.
Actions and service boundaries
Within supported accounts, users can receive and send assets and review balances and transaction history. Suite also routes selected buy, sell and swap orders to external providers, and supports staking for selected assets including ETH, ADA and SOL. WalletConnect and compatible third-party wallets provide dApp access. Coverage must be checked per model and action: support for a network or token does not make every Suite service available.
Before choosing Trezor
- Useful for: people prepared to keep their own offline wallet backup and verify addresses and transaction details on dedicated hardware.
- Less suitable for: a software-only setup, or an iPhone-only signing workflow with Safe 3, Safe 5, Model T or Model One.
- Account required: the public device onboarding flow contains no separate Trezor account creation. A buy or sell provider may run its own checkout and identity verification.
- Wallet required: the core workflow needs a compatible Trezor device. During setup, the user either creates a wallet and records its backup or restores an existing compatible backup.
- Main limits: device model, interface, asset, country and provider all affect availability. Losing the correctly recorded wallet backup can make recovery impossible; exposing it can give another person access.
Interfaces, networks and charges
Suite is offered for Windows, macOS and Linux, as a web app, and on Android and iOS. ChromeOS has no desktop build. Safe 7 supports full iOS use; the other listed models have limited iOS functions and require desktop or Android for transaction signing and device management. Mobile and desktop/web language coverage also differs.
Directly verified coverage includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Tron, Hyperliquid, Base, Arbitrum One, Polygon PoS and Optimism. Some assets are available only on particular models.
The device is a one-time hardware purchase, but no single price applies across models and markets. Ordinary transfer fees are paid to the blockchain network. External trading providers determine their quotes, fees, payment methods and identity requirements.
