BscScan indexes the public ledger of BNB Smart Chain and presents searchable pages for transactions, addresses, blocks, BEP-20 tokens, NFTs and smart contracts. A transaction hash, wallet or contract address, block number, token name or name tag can be searched without creating an account or connecting a wallet.
What you can inspect
Transaction pages show the execution status, block confirmations, timestamp, sender, recipient or interacted contract, transferred value, BNB fee, gas price, token transfers, internal transactions and event logs. Address pages collect public balances, token holdings and activity. Token pages show supply, holders and transfers. Contract pages can expose submitted source code, the ABI, compiler details, read functions and interfaces for submitting transactions when the contract has been verified.
Access requirements and fit
Useful for: confirming a BNB Smart Chain transaction, tracing public transfers, checking an address or BEP-20 token, reviewing published contract code, monitoring gas and examining indexed activity.
Less suited to: managing private keys, viewing offchain activity, reversing transfers or treating contract verification as a security review. BscScan is an explorer, not a wallet or recovery service.
Account required: no for public searches. An account is required for saved watch lists, private labels and notes, contract address ownership verification and API-key workflows.
Wallet required: no for reading public data. A wallet is optional for actions such as revoking a token approval, writing to a contract or signing a message to prove address control.
Free explorer and API access
The public web explorer is free to use. BNB Smart Chain access through Etherscan API V2 is not included in its Free Tier and requires an eligible paid API plan. Browsing public data does not create a network transaction or charge gas. Actions submitted with a connected wallet are separate onchain transactions and can incur BNB Smart Chain gas fees.
Operational limits
BscScan displays indexed public blockchain data and cannot reverse a confirmed transaction or recover assets. Contract source verification publishes source and compiler information and matches compiled code with deployed bytecode; it does not mean the contract was audited or is safe. Token names and symbols are not unique, so the contract address is the more reliable identifier.
